JOB SUMMARY AND DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

 

 

Position:                      Substitute (On-Call)  Para-Pro/Instructional Aide-  May include Special Education, Bilingual, Preschool

 

 

Reports to:              Classroom Teacher and Building Principal 

  

Salary Range           Substitute wage: $18.60-$19.49/hour.   

 

Benefits:                           Substitues earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for each 40 hours worked as per the Washington Paid Sick Leave program and are eligible to apply sick leave time during qualifying long term assignments beyond 10 consecutive days in the same subsitute assignment. A maximum of 40 hours will be carried forward each calendar year. 

 

Basic Function:         Assist certified staff to perform instructional and support tasks related to the students’ educational development within the total school environmentSupervise students. Provide a safe learning environment.

Qualifications:

  High School Diploma. Some positions require bilingual Spanish fluency.  Experience with children or students in an educational setting and / or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences preferred. Possess basic clerical skills and a familiarity with first aid procedures. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally with assistance.  Able and expected to attend work as scheduled. Able to model appropriate professional behavior. Ability to solve practical problems, apply appropriate judgment and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.  May provide assistance to students with disabilities. 

Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and district records required. Fingerprint background check required.
